The inventors of the company bike get people moving

We jump back to 2008, Ulrich Prediger works for a medical technology company in the Freiburg area and has a company car. It stood around most of the time, because the man in his mid-thirties preferred to cycle to work. Not only is it quicker, but he also arrives at the office more relaxed and motivated. "Why is there a company car but no company bike?" Ulrich Prediger asks his employer. The answer: shrugging his shoulders, it's not possible.

The young father is not satisfied with this. He believed in the idea of the company bike and founded the company with his wife Sandra in 2008. In 2011, Holger Tumat joined him as a co-entrepreneur. Just 15 years later, JobRad opens its own campus in the centre of Freiburg. The answer to Ulrich Prediger's question to his employer at the time is now on the roads all over Germany: More than one million JobRad bikes are now on the road. And the answer flickers across the screens when people watch football: With SC Freiburg, JobRad plays in the premier league and shows its solidarity with the cycling city.

Company bike leasing is healthy, keeps you fit and saves money

JobRad is the market leader in company bike leasing. In the competition for the best minds, more than 70,000 employers now offer this health-promoting benefit to over five million employees - including Bosch, SAP, Deutsche Bahn and several German federal states. JobRad uses a digital portal solution to ensure that company bike leasing processes are quick and easy.

"The idea for JobRad came to me on my way to work - on my bike, of course. Our company couldn't have been born in any other city than our beautiful cycling city of Freiburg."

If an employer has concluded a contract with JobRad, employees can easily get their company bike: whether city bike, cargo bike or pedelec - any bike can be a JobRad. The employee uses it for business and private purposes. Thanks to the corresponding tax benefits that JobRad itself has obtained from the government, leasing is significantly cheaper than direct purchase. Employers also save money: Those who cycle to the office do not need an expensive car parking space and are sick less often. Together, we all make a contribution to climate protection and quality of life.

People at the centre - in the company and in urban society

JobRad has consistently implemented the idea of sustainability not only in its ecological, but also in its social and financial dimensions . People take centre stage and are the most important resource. The special corporate culture is lived out in an appreciative spirit of togetherness: in idea workshops, team events, cultural days, sports groups and leisure activities.
JobRad's brand essence also includes sharing its own success, allowing the general public to participate and giving something back to society. The company supports projects, clubs and organisations in Freiburg, such as Bike-Bridge and the Eisvögel. Joint campaigns with employees and SC fans ensure that donations are regularly made. JobRad's social commitment strengthens social cohesion in our city.

The invention of the company bike has significantly increased the enjoyment of cycling mobility, especially among those who had not yet considered cycling as a means of transport. The success of JobRad shows that money can be made with the mobility turnaround and climate protection. The signal is clear: the bicycle has a firm place in society - and in our city.
