Research location
The largest energy supplier in southern Baden, badenova AG & Co KG, is based in the North Industrial Estate, as are the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology, the Solar Info Center, the BioTechPark, five Fraunhofer Institutes (IAF, EMI, IPM, ISE, IWM), the Institute for Micro- and Information Technology of the Hahn-Schickard-Gesellschaft (HSG-IMIT) and the University's Faculty of Engineering.
Many innovative companies characterize Freiburg's image as a location for life sciences, environmental economics and innovative research and development.
Commercial location
Numerous car dealerships and the TÜV Süd branch characterize the western part, which is also known as "Automeile Nord". Adjacent to this is the so-called "furniture mile" with furniture stores such as XXXLutz, IKEA, Möbel Braun and Roller as well as the Freiburg Trade Fair.
In the InnovationsZentrum Nord, the BioTechPark Freiburg and the Cerdia industrial park, there are opportunities for innovative companies to rent office space and laboratories of various sizes at reasonable prices.
The area has a comprehensive network of modern fiber optic cables, which guarantee a very good broadband supply. The standard transmission rate is up to 1 GBit/s. If required, it is possible to optimize this transmission rate.
BioTechPark Freiburg also offers a fully equipped start-up laboratory that can be rented on a project-related or temporary basis. However, established companies from the fields of biotechnology, microsystems technology, medical technology, pharmaceuticals and related areas also value the BioTechPark as an ideal business location. The companies located in the BioTechPark are integrated into BioRegio Freiburg and the trinational BioValley network. Further information can be found at www.biotechpark.de.
Transport links
Thanks to the four-lane expansion of Mooswaldallee, the North Industrial Estate is optimally connected to the A5 (Karlsruhe-Basel) and all other Freiburg industrial estates. The industrial estate is also connected to the B 31 (east-west) and the B 3 (north-south).
Thanks to streetcar line 4, various bus lines and the Breisgau S-Bahn with the Neue Messe/Universität stop, the industrial estate has a direct connection to local public transport.
With the City-Flugplatz-Freiburg air field, the North Industrial Estate also offers fast transport links to the centers of Europe in addition to rail and road. It is approved for commercial and private flights up to 10 tons take-off weight. Further information can be found at www.city-flugplatz-freiburg.de.
