10 years of Green Industry Park Freiburg
Significant reduction in CO2 emissions in the Northern Industrial Estate. The Green Industry Park Freiburg initiative celebrates its 10th anniversary and takes stock of its achievements so far.
On 10 October 2024, over 100 guests from the worlds of business, society and politics celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Green Industry Park Freiburg and raised a toast to its achievements.
The interim review “10 Years of GIP” is a success story that highlights positive tipping points “with which you can reclaim the future”, as Matthias Horx, a renowned futurologist from Salzburg, put it in his keynote speech at the Lokhalle in Freiburg.
The results presented by BadenCampus show that economic growth is possible whilst reducing resource consumption: the number of employees at GIP Nord has increased by 37% since 2014, whilst electricity consumption has been reduced by almost a third. CO2 emissions in the electricity and heating sectors have been reduced by more than 34 per cent in the GIP over these 10 years. The installed capacity of PV systems has more than doubled.
The study makes it clear that the commitment of local businesses to climate-friendly solutions and joint sustainable local development is paying off. An encouraging incentive for the next 10 years of successful collaboration with and within the Green Industry Park Freiburg initiative.
