The Green Industry Park initiative receives technical support from Klimapartner Oberrhein and ITG mbH & Co. KG. Both contribute their knowledge of current funding opportunities, contacts and experience in both corporate energy and climate protection and in the field of ‘connected industry’. They are also keeping an eye on hydrogen as a potential future energy source in the region.

As a regional energy supplier, badenova has been on board with the initiative from the very start. The company has been committed to the energy transition for many years. Through its climate-neutral administrative buildings and the installation of solar panels on green roofs, it is helping to achieve the Green Industry Park’s objectives. The heating pipeline from Cerdia to the new exhibition centre and SC Freiburg’s stadium is regarded as a key investment for climate-friendly heat supply in the GIP.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems is Europe’s largest solar research institute, based in Freiburg. The ISE brings technological innovation and a spirit of research to the initiative.

Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the Southern Upper Rhine

The Southern Upper Rhine Chamber of Industry and Commerce has become the latest member to join the Green Industry Park initiative. Its aim is to support businesses in preparing themselves for the transformative challenge of achieving climate neutrality. The Green Industry Park Freiburg provides an excellent framework for this. The Chamber is contributing its training programmes and networks, as well as its expertise in the areas of innovation and corporate environmental and climate protection.

City of Freiburg

The City of Freiburg’s Environmental Protection Agency coordinates the initiative’s activities and works with its partners to drive the project forward. Under local government law, the city is not permitted to award its own funding to businesses. The City of Freiburg therefore supports the GIP process through networking, tailored seminars, implementation workshops and the provision of expert advice. The expansion of cycle path infrastructure and the introduction of two bus routes in GIP-Nord demonstrate its concrete commitment to the area.
